Good question! And here
are the reasons why you should not:
-
It is hard to figure
out the most efficient flight itinerary. I know the days when there
are non-stops between some cities, vs. very long flights with
multiple stops. Then there is the trick of coordinating a flight to
sync with the time a daytrip starts or ends.
-
I can save you money,
headaches, and time – and also tell you the difference between
options. For example, there is a slew of boats that go out to the
Great Barrier Reef – all different boats, all going to different
places. Which is right for you?
-
Websites can be
misleading. A cute B&B is not going to tell you they are on a noisy
street or near a busy pub. Tour guides may not have the right
accreditation, licenses and insurance. I have known travelers who
booked a tour guide who sounded great online, who took their payment
and never showed up.
-
In these difficult
economic times, I am seeing accommodations and tour companies
suddenly go bankrupt. If you have booked online, your payment is
down the drain. But if you book with me, my company and those I work
with all have insurance to protect against supplier bankruptcy.
-
We all like to read
travel-written critiques of hotels. But how often do they represent
sour grapes, or a one-off situation? I select hotels based on my own
personal experience, that of the agents I work with, and trip
reports from hundreds of clients over the years.
