Here are three unique tours off the beaten track. Go on holiday where the Kiwis do!  Sites include the Bay of Islands, Coromandel Peninsula, East Cape, Golden Bay and Nelson Lakes.   They can combined, or tailored to your travel preferences.

The Bay of Islands: by land and by sea

The northeast coast of the North Island is dotted with beautiful islands seldom seen by tourists.  Now you can – by cruise ship!  You will visit bird sanctuaries, marine preserves, and a historic home.  After arriving in the Bay of Islands, enjoy Maori cultural tours on a more personal basis that those available elsewhere in New Zealand. Northland is lined with magnificent, deserted white sand beaches.  Then return to Auckland via the west coast, through the largest kauri forest in the world.  This tour is relaxed in pace, easy to do, and very beautiful!

Coromandel and East Cape Culture

The far northwest tip of the South Island has turquoise bays and rugged mountains, most seldom visited by travelers.  Start this tour in Nelson, one of the arts and crafts capitols of New Zealand. Then drive through the Abel Tasman National Park, to Golden Bay – the end of the road!  Walk in temperate rainforest, kayak bays with the dolphins, stay in an historic homestead – it just doesn’t get better!  Then head south through Buller Gorge and the mountains that line the Alpine fault, west to the coast, and north to a remote, comfy lodge where you can really kick back!  On your way out, see the blow-holes at famous Punakaiki Rocks.
