The Barossa Wine Valley was established in the 1860s by German immigrants, who began the vineyards that today comprise one of Australia's top fruit and wine districts.

These 650 million year-old rocks are fossilized stratomolites, the oldest life forms known on earth - visible in the Flinders Ranges. The Flinders Ranges, 500 million years, offer the best opportunity in Australia to understand the geology of the world's oldest continent.  These are among many hills that are the top of a sea that sank 800 million years ago.

Kangaroo Island is the best place in Australia to see the animals in the wild, and in game parks were some are tame enough to feed! The Flinders are the sacred homeland of the Adnyamathanha (rock) people.  The Coulthard family have established here, what I believe is the best cultural experience in Australia. The big bus tours on Kangaroo Island don't take you down country roads like this, where our small group tours go! The elusive echidna, along with the platypus, are the only two surviving monotremes on earth (egg-laying mamals). 

The goanna lizard was once a staple in the Aboriginal diet.
